This was meticulously engineered from the very first episode — the intent was screaming at you from frame one. I was going crazy watching so many people give the writer the benefit of the doubt, like 'oh she's just talentless and stitching together whatever looked cool.' No. I think even making it obvious enough for the oblivious ones by the finale — that was part of the plan too.

Do they think this show only has ONE historical accuracy problem? The issue is that nothing — not one thing — was accurate from Episode 1 through Episode 12. And for the record: going back to the Goryeo period, Korea used a dual-register system — outward deference to China, but internally we used imperial terminology all the time. Joseon absolutely used 'Manse, Manse, Manmanse.' They clearly don't know that either.

This is what separates professionals from amateurs — basic craft conscience. Even in fantasy, the fantasy has to have internal rules and consistency, or it falls apart. If you're building a world around a Korean constitutional monarchy, the fantasy label does NOT give you permission to gut the historical spine of modern Korean identity. The moment you hollow out the foundation just to make it look pretty, you've made a traitor's work.

Cheonse was just the fuse. It's the moment viewers connected twelve episodes of accumulated problems and realized they were all pointing the same direction. Once everyone's seen that — you can't just clip one wire. The whole bomb needs to go.

This is genuinely infuriating. The 'Cheonse' and the nine-stream crown is what blew the lid off, and yeah Episode 1 was already all wrong — your intentions just became impossible to deny by the end. Setting, dialogue, direction — nothing in this entire drama was normal. Don't give me 'we didn't know.' The director's not the only one — the rest of the production team have impressive credits. Are you seriously asking us to believe every single one of them was just... brain-dead?

Honestly, I don't think 'Cheonse' alone caused this. People had been quietly building a case since Episode 1 — these nagging, unsettling little accuracy failures that left a bad taste every week. Viewers waited to see how it would all land. The finale answered that question, and the whole thing exploded.

The Episode 1 banquet — the Grand Prince in a messy outfit, talking back to the Queen Mother right in front of everyone — that's when I knew this show had no foundation whatsoever. The whole vibe just kept feeling... off, not like a Korean drama at all. Couldn't even finish Episode 2, dropped it. If a real Grand Prince or chaebol heir acted like that, public opinion would have already buried them alive.

Truly impressive fans, in every possible way. Instead of joining the 80 historians who flagged accuracy concerns before filming — which would have actually helped — they mass-reported them into silence. Then when Episode 1 aired and critics spoke up again, the fans rushed to shield the show, mass-reporting all over again. And even after handing ammunition to the Northeast Project narrative, their attitude is still THIS. Incredible.

Same — I hate that everyone's only talking about China while the Japan-worship parts just quietly slide by. From Episode 1 the royal family and political structure felt like it was lifted from Japan, and the citizens were written as this passive, kept-ignorant mass… that's arguably worse, and nobody's pushing on it. If the China button hadn't been pressed, there wouldn't have been any apology at all. That's a wake-up call right there.

They keep releasing statements that only address 'Cheonse' and the nine-stream crown — as if those are the only things people are angry about, when there is literally not one scene in this entire drama that follows Joseon court protocol. Framing it that way is pure damage minimization lol. You want the full case against this show? Just cut together every Queen Mother scene from Episode 1. It's all right there.

Oh so now the goal was to bash the actors all along — the fire got redirected to the actors and now the momentum's gone. Wake up, people. Before broadcast, history buffs flagged problems with the synopsis and 80 of them got their comments mass-reported into oblivion. Then when Episode 1 aired and people called out the problems, the response was 'omg it's so hot, y'all are just obsessed/crazy' — and that silenced everyone too.

Honestly, both lead actors' fandoms are absolutely the bully-type — exactly like people above said. The problems were visible from Episode 1, there were plenty of posts calling them out, and those fans swarmed around like a gang shutting everyone down. And NOW that it's all blown up — they're pointing fingers at Choi Tae-sung? I am so done with this fandom.

Are they seriously doing interviews looking like THAT in the middle of all this chaos?? And why are they apologizing TO THE ACTORS lmaooo — if you're actually sorry, apologize to this country for making a drama that has people calling Korea a Chinese vassal state.

It is NOT just 'Cheonse' — in the royal court: Chinese tea sets, Chinese tea ceremony style, crossing your legs in front of the Queen Mother like you're at a convenience store, and calling the king '조카님' (nephew). What constitutional monarchy on this planet addresses its reigning king as NEPHEW?? Go back and check all of it. From. Episode. One.

Yes, technically the tributary culture of East Asia didn't automatically mean vassal-state status — that distinction matters and needs to be made clearly. But THAT'S exactly why reducing this to just the coronation scene is more dangerous. The show had so many problems, across all twelve episodes, that viewers came away thinking Joseon was a vassal state — and Joseon was a sovereign nation. That's the damage.
