Every single piece of this was meticulously constructed from the start. The intent was visible from Episode 1 — but SO many people were giving the writer the benefit of the doubt, like 'oh she's just incompetent, copy-pasting whatever looked cool.' That drove me insane. Even the finale being obvious enough that the densest possible viewer could finally see it — I think that was calculated from day one too.

'천세' is just the fuse. It's the moment everyone finally understood that every problem stacked up since Episode 1 was pointing in the same direction — toward China. Now that we all see it: cutting one wire doesn't fix this. The whole bomb has to go.

Professional vs. amateur — it comes down to work ethic. Fantasy still needs internal rules and consistency, or it has no power. And if you're setting your world in a constitutional monarchy modeled on Korea specifically, you do NOT touch the foundational pillars of Korean history no matter how fantasy it gets. The moment you hollow out that foundation for entertainment value, you've made a traitor's work.

Honestly I don't think '천세' is what caused this. People had been putting up with the low-grade discomfort of wrong historical details since Episode 1 — nagging, slightly off, impossible to fully ignore — watching to see how it would wrap up. The finale is just where twelve episodes of that discomfort finally detonated.

This is genuinely infuriating. '천세' and the '구류면류관' [a specific style of royal crown] — that's what blew it open, but it was OFF from Episode 1. The finale just made your intentions impossible to deny. Not a single piece of setting, dialogue, or direction in this whole drama was right — so don't come at us with 'we didn't know.' The director isn't the only one. Everyone on that production has an impressive résumé. Are you telling me they were ALL just brain-dead?

It's not just '천세.' Chinese tea sets in the palace. Chinese-style tea ceremony. Crossing your legs in front of the Queen Dowager like court etiquette doesn't exist — commoner behavior, literally. Calling the king '조카님' [nephew] — what constitutional monarchy on earth lets you call the sitting king 'nephew'?? Count it all up. From Episode 1.

Yes, tribute culture in East Asia didn't automatically mean vassal status — that distinction matters and needs to be made clearly. But THAT'S exactly why minimizing it to just the coronation scene is the more dangerous move. The problem is that this drama has so many compounding errors that a viewer could walk away genuinely believing Joseon was a subordinate state to China. And this gets exported internationally. Episode 1 complaints about setting errors kept piling up — each one quietly degrading Joseon court culture and customs — until the whole thing finally collapsed under its own weight.

The second that official statement framed it like only one scene was problematic, it was obvious exactly how they planned to play this. Every complaint raised from Episode 1 onward — not a single mention. Scrubbed from the public conversation like it never happened.

Same — I hate how it's become all China all the time while the Japan-coded elements just get quietly dropped. From Episode 1 the royal family and politics read like they were lifted from Japan, and the citizens felt deliberately kept ignorant and docile [우민화 — the policy of keeping a population uneducated to control them]... that's arguably worse. And if the China button hadn't gotten pushed, there wouldn't even have been an apology.

What exactly were the writer, director, and the whole production team doing during all that pre-production time — just chasing star casting? Viewers clocked something was wrong after ONE episode. You people had the script in your hands for months. What's your excuse?

The Episode 1 banquet — a grand prince in a sloppy outfit, mouthing off at the Queen Dowager in front of everyone — and I was done. Filed it as 'fundamentally rootless drama' right there. But even after that, something about the whole emotional register kept feeling wrong — like, is this even a Korean drama? Couldn't finish Episode 2. Dropped it.

The whole point was to make this about bashing the actors — burn the energy on that, and the real fire dies down. Wake UP, people who are falling for it. Before broadcast, history fans flagged problems with the synopsis and 80 people swarmed the comments to bury it. Then Episode 1 airs clearly wrong, and instead of engaging they just went '왜 이렇게 핫해~' [oh it's so popular~] and called the critics mentally ill [정병 — derogatory slang for 'mental case,' used to dismiss fans who criticize]. They buried it twice. Now they want to redirect to actor hate.

Honestly both of those actors' fandoms are exactly the '일진 팬덤' [bully fandom] everyone's describing. Problems were visible from Episode 1, critical posts were everywhere — and they went around mob-style shutting it all down, and NOW this blows up... and they're redirecting the blame at Choi Tae-sung [a prominent Korean history educator and TV personality]??

Sorry, they're doing INTERVIEWS right now looking like THAT while all this is happening? And why are they apologizing TO THE ACTORS lmaooo. If you're going to apologize at all, apologize to the country — the one now getting called China's vassal state because of the drama YOU made.

Do they think this is the only historical inaccuracy in the drama?? The problem is there's not ONE correct thing from Episode 1 through 12. Also — for the record — Korea practiced '외왕내제' [presenting as a kingdom externally while using imperial titles internally] going back to the Goryeo period. Outwardly deferring to China while internally using imperial court language. Joseon would have used '만세 만세 만만세' [ten-thousand years, ten-thousand years, ten-thousand-times ten-thousand years] domestically. The '천세' framing literally erases that history.
